The story of ‘Anne of Green Gables’ comes alive at Bala’s Museum, with costumes for boys and girls and photo ops from scenes out of ‘Anne’. Photograph the famous Anne & Diana Tea Party; Anne saving Minnie May’s life and Anne thwacking Gilbert with her slate. Marvel at the world’s largest replica Green Gables dollhouse. Shop in Canada’s best Anne of Green Gables Gift Shop & Bookstore. The museum itself is the former Tourist Home where ‘Anne’ author, Lucy Maud Montgomery and her family ate meals daily for 2 weeks in the summer of 1922. Later Montgomery would publish ‘The Blue Castle’, an adult novel set in Muskoka and inspired by her Bala holiday.
Fridays are Grans & Grankids Day with 20% off admissions for grandchildren with grandparents. Don’t miss EVERYTHING ANNE DAY, Sat. July 23rd at 1:30 pm. The whole family can join in 3-legged races, sack races and egg-on-a-spoon races. Free popcorn and cake, 25-cent lemonade. Prizes for best costumes of Anne characters. On Sat. Oct. 15th during Cranberry Festival, watch the judging of our 2016 CRAN-ANNE. Contestants need to register by 1:30 pm, judging begins at 2:00 pm.
